New Herd Wizard

When you create a new herd database, you will be led through a special dialog called a wizard. The New Herd Wizard will prompt you for what species of animals will be in the new herd, the name of the herd, and how you want to get your initial data into the herd database.

The New Herd Wizard has three "pages". Use the Next and Previous buttons to move from page to page.

What Species of Animals Will This Herd Contain? (Page 1)
Select either Dairy Cattle or Dairy Goats and then press Next.

Provide a Name for the New Herd Database (Page 2)
Type in a name, such as "Olson Farms". This name will be used as the actual file name for your new herd database. It will be placed in the folder that is indicated. If you want to store it in a different folder, click on the Change button. After you have provided the name, press Next.
Select One of the Following Options (Page 3)
You can select one of the following options:
  1. I want my new herd database to contain some sample data. Select this option if you want DairyLive to add some sample data representing a fictional herd. This is useful when you want to experiment with DairyLive's capabilities without having to make up your own data.
  2. I want to import my initial data from an external file. Select this option if want to import data from an external file, such as a herd history file.
  3. I want to manually enroll some animals. Select this option if you want to manually add animals through the Enroll New Animals dialog.
  4. I want to leave the new herd database empty for now. Select this option if you want to leave the new herd database empty for now.

Now press Finish. If you selected option 2 or 3 above, you will be presented with another dialog after the new herd database has been created.
