New Animal Dialog

You can enter new animals into the herd through the New Animal dialog. This dialog appears when you select an animal group in the Herd Explorer and then select the Object->New Animal menu item.

A quicker way to enter many animals is to use the Enroll New Animals screen.

Barn Name or Number

The barn name (or number) must be different than all other barn names (or numbers) in your herd. It can contain up to 20 characters.

Birthday

Enter the new animal's birthday. See Entering Dates.

Breed

Select the breed for this animal.

Gender

Select either Male or Female.

 

Previous Lactations

This field applies only to female animals. If the new animal is already a milking animal, enter the number of previous lactations for this animal for which you do not have corresponding calving dates and lactation data.
