Add Event Dialog

You use the Add Event dialog to add an event for one or more animals. There are several ways to get to this dialog:

1. In the Herd Explorer, select an animal group on the left side, and then select one or more animals on the right side. Then select Object->Animal->Quick Add Event from the main menu.
2. In the List View, select one or more animals in your results list. Then select Animal->Quick Add Event from the main menu.
3. In the Event View, press the Add button on the bottom of the window.
4. In the Animal Details View, go to the Events tab and press the Add button.

Apply Event To

This list shows the names of the animals to which this event will be applied. The contents of this list will depend on what animals were selected when you invoked this dialog. If there are animals in this list that you decided you do not want to include in this event, simply uncheck them.

Event Date

Enter the date of the event. By default, the value will be today's date. For information on entering dates, see Entering Dates.

Event Type

Select the type of event you are recording. To create your own event types or to modify an existing event type, see Event Type Editor. See Event Types for an explanation of the standard event types.

Cost

Enter the cost of this event, if you are using DairyLive for tracking event costs. The default for the cost will depend on how the event type is set up.

 

Technician

Select the name of the technician who observed or is recording this event.

Notes

You can type any additional comments about the event into this field.

 

Additional Event Information

Depending on what type of event you are recording, you may be prompted for additional information about the event. Some items may be optional and others are required.

 

Create These Reminders

Sometimes entering an event will cause one or more reminders to be added to the herd database for these animals. If so, these will appear in this list. You can delete any of these, add new ones, or change the reminder dates before pressing OK. To add a new item, press the + button to create a new row. To delete an item, select the item and then press the - button.

Protocol

If the event you are entering is to be part of a protocol of events, check either the Start Protocol checkbox or the Continue Protocol checkbox as appropriate. Then select the name of the protocol in the drop-down list. When you are entering a new event, DairyLive will try to compute this for you. You can remove the checkbox if you want. If the animal is not eligible for the protocol, you will not be able to enter the event. See Protocol View for more information.

 

Add/Close, Add/New

To add the current event and close the dialog, click Add/Close. To add the event and then enter another event for the same animal(s), click Add/New.
